Lose Weight The Right Way

In today’s rapidly changing world where fad diets and celebrity makeovers abound, the average person can easily become overwhelmed by the expanse of information available regarding weight loss. To help eliminate the confusion, I’d like to present a basic overview of weight loss and weight maintenance that includes a few simple diet tips guaranteed to provide lasting results.

Let’s begin by discussing what a healthy weight is. For most people, a healthy weight is one that lowers the risk of developing health issues related to body composition. The best methods for determining a healthy weight often don’t involve bathroom scales but are those that consider a person’s body mass index (BMI). But even a BMI doesn’t paint the complete picture of healthy weight. Other factors such as an active lifestyle and healthy eating patterns can play integral roles in attaining a healthy weight.

Why weight is important in the first place

Apart from aesthetics, excess weight can lead to health complications such as heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, and a multitude of other problems. Excess weight also takes a toll on the muscular and skeletal systems over time and can result in irreparable damage to joints and connective tissue. Maintaining a healthy and proportionate weight helps to mitigate many of those health issues. Additionally, lowering one’s weight can lead to having more energy, increased self-confidence, and possessing a better overall outlook on life. Not such bad things to have happen, right?

Dieting

The traditional concept of “dieting” is one that often invokes images of people starving themselves and exercising to collapse. Further, the concept has been tainted by numerous fads and faulty methods over the past several decades that ultimately do more harm than good – and they rarely produce lasting results.

In many cases, dieting to lose weight can actually be harmful. Quite often, people regain most, if not all, of the weight lost through unsound methods of dieting. The rapid fluctuations of losing and regaining weight (often referred to as yo-yo dieting) can cause undue amounts of stress on the respiratory and cardiovascular systems which can lead to irreversible damage.

Many diets also don’t allow for the proper amount of nutrients and vitamins essential to health which can lead to malnutrition. Other diets can lead to eating disorders. Lastly, some individuals become so discouraged by ineffective dieting methods that they ultimately give up in frustration and cease any effort toward leading a healthy lifestyle at all.

The best diet is one that isn’t a diet at all. Those seeking weight loss are best served by embracing healthy eating habits. Avoiding highly processed foods and excess amounts of sugar are two of the best measures that can be taken. Another diet tip is to avoid the center aisles of the supermarket. None of the healthy food is found there; rather it is located on the periphery of the store in the meat, deli, produce, and dairy sections.

By now you may be asking yourself that if dieting doesn’t work, what can be done to lose weight and maintain that weight loss. The answer may be more simple than you expect. I found the simple and effective weight loss plan here.

The first step to weight loss is an absolute commitment on the part of the individual to embrace a healthy and active lifestyle. Some behavioral changes will need to be made and without commitment, those seeking to lose weight often slip back into the comfort of bad habits.

Next, slowly improving eating habits will go a long way toward overall weight loss. Quitting certain foods cold turkey often leads to defeat. By allowing for the slow adaptation of new foods into the diet while phasing out less healthy options, people are more likely to achieve success because they don’t feel deprived. One method is to implement one new food each week while removing one less-healthy food. This trade-off often yields great results.

Again, foods that are not highly processed and don’t contain high levels of sugar are the best choices for weight loss. Natural foods such as fruits and vegetables combined with quality high sources of protein such as eggs, lean meats, poultry, and fish are always good choices.

Physical activity is an essential component of overall fitness. Not only does it promote and speed weight loss, but it produces happy little feel-good chemicals called endorphins, which elevate mood and energy levels. Making exercise a part of one’s daily routine is integral to cardiovascular health and longevity of life.

Feelings and emotions related to excess weight and food consumption can thwart the best of efforts. In today’s body-shaming culture it can seem judgment is cast with every glance. But changing the way one thinks about food can have massive effects on an individual’s relationship with it. Instead of seeing food as something to turn to when feeling discouraged, thinking of it as fuel to power the body can be fruitful in helping to evolve food’s perceived purpose.

As silly as it may sound to some, positive affirmations can also produce sound results for those attempting to lose weight. Positive reinforcement solidifies goals and intentions, therefore making them appear more attainable. When all else fails, seek the support of a loved one or trusted confidant to provide encouragement. No successful person ever got to where they are all alone. They all received help from someone.

Overall, it is important to remember that weight loss must be approached one day at a time. Attempting to lose any amount of weight can seem like an insurmountable task when approached as one enormous undertaking. Establishing milestones and smaller, more achievable goals serves to fuel motivation and dedication to the overall resolution of to lose weight.

Food Shopping

How To Shop For Food

If you are on a diet, one of the most important activities you can participate in is food shopping.  While on a diet, it is extremely important that you actively participate in buying specific foods to meet your diet needs.  Here are some great tips for food shopping.

First off, don’t go shopping on an empty stomach, you will shop with your stomach and not with your head and you will have a shopping cart full of junk food.  Always food shop on a full stomach.

When food shopping, always have a plan, either make a list or know what foods you would like to buy.  Make sure you read the labels carefully.  These days it is the law to state how many calories per serving and how much of these calories are attributed to carbohydrates, protein and fat.  You should be able to easily read the nutrition label.  You can find more information on the USDA.gov web site.

Shop smart, when food shopping, take a look at all your choices and figure out which food is best for you caloric and health wise. You usually have plenty of choices to choose between, and remember that you can easily shed a few pounds per month just by choosing smartly when food shopping.  If you are looking to lose weight and eat healthy, make smart choices when you food shop.

Secrets to Weight Loss

Everything You Need To Know About Weight Loss, Diet & Nutrition

There is no diet plan or diet book that doesn’t promise to give you results if followed to the letter. Yet a majority of people who have been on various diets in an attempt to lose weight will tell you it either didn’t work or worked temporarily only for all the weight to come right back.

The truth of the matter is, there is no one diet that is guaranteed to work for everyone. Our bodies are different and there are factors other than diet, which influence your weight. These include genetic makeup, physical activity, and your health.

Diet & Weight Loss

A diet basically comprises of what you eat and the frequency of eating. There are many diet plans that have been created for weight loss such as the paleo diet, ketogenic diet, low carb diets, the Dukan diet, ultra-low carb diet, Atkins diet, to mention but a few.

The reason diet plans may fail to work is because:

  1. Our bodies are different. Before you jump into any diet you need to first establish the cause of your weight gain or the reason your body is the way it is. What’s your genetic makeup? How are your eating habits?
  2. You also need to know if your health is optimum. You could be suffering from issues such as hypothyroidism, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, or other ailments that can impact your body weight. Diets search as the HCG diet is created specifically to help individuals suffering from diseases such as diabetes to live a healthy life, and manage their weight. So knowing the condition of your health will help you find a diet best suited for you.
  3. Diets also fail to work because of lack of adequate physical activity. Our eating has a great influence on our weight but so does physical activity. You don’t have to go to the gym but you need to activate your body cells, and kick start your metabolism with some exercises. Be it walking, household chores, running, or simple things like using stairs instead of the elevator every chance you get.

Weight Loss Through Nutrition

Nutrition is all about consuming the adequate amounts of nutrients from healthy kinds of foods and in the right combinations. Being knowledgeable about nutrition will help you make the right choices about the foods you eat and consequently, the best diet plan for your nutritional needs.

The reason most people fail to make changes in their diet or fail to stick to a diet is because they don’t understand nutrition.

When you start on a diet don’t be too hard on yourself. It’s okay to replace certain foods from the diet with alternatives that appeal to you but hold the same nutritional value. Focus on the quality of the foods you are taking as well as the amounts you consume. Remember, weight gain occurs when you’re taking in more energy (calories) than what you’re expelling in the course of the day.

Losing weight is not an easy task and that is why it’s important to work together with experts who will guide you along the way and help you attain success.

That is why I chose Dr. Colbert’s Slender System. He gives you the right way to diet and inside knowledge on why and how you lose weight.

7 Easy Steps To Weight Loss

Is one of your New Year’s resolutions to lose weight? To finally start to feel good about yourself and look good? You aren’t alone, as millions of Americans are looking for that ‘perfect weight loss program’. Here are a 7 steps you can start today and see results very quickly. No fads, just facts maam :o)

Current statistics reveal that 75% of Americans are overweight and 40% are
obese. My primary doctor classified me as obese, I was 6’3″ and weighed 298lbs at my top or worst. I really was upset and offended as I always considered myself to not be obese or at least in better shape than most. But looking back I was definitely fat.

For those who desire to lose weight and obtain optimal health, sometimes it can be overwhelming trying to figure out where to start. From the Atkins Diet to the South Beach Diet; from the low fat to low carb diets, there are numerous weight-loss plans to choose from. The one that has worked for me is Dr Colbert’s Slender System or 21 Day Detox Diet. Why? He offers not only fantastic nutritional advice but delicious recipes. Not only do you shed all fat, but increase energy and a gain a feeling of well being.

For those who have tried many diet plans with no success, it becomes more difficult and frustrating. Many people forget that a diet might work wonders for their friend but won’t work well for them…not because the diet is “bad”, but because each body reacts differently. However, there is a way to lose weight that is easy, fast, and doesn’t involve deprivation or calorie counting. Go to: drcolbert.com to get started with the absolute best advice, nutritional products and  recipes.

Before the weight loss tips are discussed, it’s important to address some background information about body genetics and why weight loss can be difficult.

Before anyone starts a diet, it is important to note that each person has a different body build. Some people are short and stout while others are tall and thin. Some have big hips and shoulders, and others are short and very muscular.

Genetics can determine body shape and a person’s natural build just as it does eye color, hair color, skin color, and so on. The good news is that genetics do not determine whether or not one will be fat, but will determine one’s body shape. This means that not every woman can expect to be tall and thin like a Hollywood actress or supermodel such as Beyonce. Not every man can expect to be defined and muscular like The Rock. The goal, really, is to be at a comfortable weight for one’s body shape and to feel good about it.

So, why are people overweight? Here are 11 of the most common reasons:

1. Slow metabolism: People who are overweight have a hard time burning off food.

As a result, the fat is stored.

2. Emotional eating: Those who struggle with weight often eat when stressed or when other emotional upheavals are happening in their life.

3. Hormonal imbalances.

4. Eating portions that are too large.

5. Eating lots of “diet food” (that is low fat, low carb, and “sugar free” foods).

6. Build up of toxins in the body.

7. Eating late: Late-night eating can cause food to convert to fat more easily.

8. High susceptibility to growth hormones: These hormones are given to animals to help them grow faster and larger, so meat and dairy have residual growth hormones. In humans, these hormones can result in increased fat storage.

9. Not eating breakfast.

10. Numerous diets: Going from diet to diet has a negative impact on the metabolism and causes weight loss to be much more difficult.

11. Food ingredients: The reasons why are amazing and beyond the scope of this article.

Simple Tips for Easy Weight Loss:

Now that there is a better understanding of body genetics and why people have a tendency to be overweight, here are the tips for fast, easy weight loss.

Tip #1: Drink water upon arising: First thing in the morning, drink eight ounces of distilled water, bottled water, or filtered water (not tap water).

Tip #2: Eat a big breakfast: This should be done 45 minutes after getting up in the morning. Suggested organic foods to choose from (they must be organic) are apples, bananas, , tuna, lamb, carrots, peppers, raw honey, wild smoked salmon, and so on.

Tip #3: Drink distilled water throughout the day: Eight glasses is recommended

Tip #4: Walk non-stop one hour each day: This doesn’t have to be power walking; just walk at your own pace. Walking outdoors is best.

Tip #5: Stop eating after 6:00 PM: This is hard for some people, but do the best you can.

Tip #6: Do a candida cleanse: Candida is yeast overgrowth in the colon that can cause all kinds of health problems. Check online for “Candida Cleanse” or go to your local health food store.

Tip #7: Do a colon cleanse: This cleanse cleans out the digestive system, which is clogged and sluggish in many overweight people. Once again, check online or go to your local health food store.

More and more Americans are becoming overweight. Extra weight can result in many health issues and negatively impact one’s emotional state and self-esteem.

However, for those struggling with this problem, there is hope. You can lose it and keep it off. Now that you have a understanding of body genetics and why you might be overweight, take action today! Commit to trying at least a few of the steps.

Stress Reduction/Emotional Therapy

Psychokinesiology: An Effective Treatment That Helps Diminish Your Emotional Burden!

You may not believe it, but in addition to physical injuries, emotional traumas and deep-rooted mental problems can negatively impact your health. Below will help you to understand the importance of treating your hidden ordeals to make you healthy physically as well as psychologically.

How Do Emotional Traumas Affect Your Life?

Life always comes with its own share of blissful and agonizing events. Humans tend to forget the happy times, and instead build up unresolved conflicts within themselves. These unresolved issues are one of the major reasons that imbalances are created in your mind/body system. You may not be aware, but these negative events delay your healing process and drastically impact your ability to deal with stress.

Even minor childhood incidences such as a friend joining another school can leave a child emotionally broken. This long-forgotten event can scar the child’s future relationships, especially romantic and close ones. Some of these children unknowingly become oversensitive, while some do not easily trust in others.

What Is Psychokinesiology?

Psychokinesiology involves a series of techniques using muscle testing that helps to communicate with your unconscious mind and mental skills to deal with the conscious mind. The treatment aims to directly determine and rectify an individual’s deep-rooted emotional traumas in order to balance the energy of the mind and body.

How Is Psychokinesiology Better Than Other Treatments?

Psychokinesiology is a technique that determines the root causes of emotional issues. Once the cause is diagnosed, it becomes easy to find the correct treatment. It has been said that the treatment is half cured when the diagnosis is accurate.

Most effective psychokinesiology techniques are inspired by Roger Callahan and Dietrich Klinghardt’s psychokinesiological teachings. Some other techniques such as Quigong, neural therapy, colour therapy, elements of EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), eye movements and acupuncture are also used simultaneously with these in order to get rid of emotional issues. When integrated, the treatment works quickly to figure out the major issues that are affecting a patient’s health. These techniques reprogram the patient’s mind to form new energy pathways in the body to replace the old blockages and eradicate the negative effect of the emotional traumas suffered long before.

Once the person is healed emotionally, he will start experiencing quick relief from most of his physical discomforts. This is mostly because the deep-rooted emotional blockages and hidden fears are the major cause of ailments you suffer today.

It is incredible how fast the combination of these techniques diagnoses and resolves even the toughest emotional issues. Many experts have found that most of the conditions that appear to be physical in nature actually originate from psychological reasons. Similarly, conditions that appear psychological are often the result of physical causes.

Why Is Psychokinesiology Effective?

Most health experts accept that stress and anxiety can negatively affect your health. However, the techniques and methods they implement to diagnose and cure stress are not precise, which in turn does not help with healing. On the other hand, psychokinesiology is a great method of healing that helps you to get rid of certain blockages and fears that you were unknowingly harbouring within yourself and that were causing physical pain. It works to treat a large number of hidden emotional issues including depression, childhood abuse, physical abuse and blockages.

Don’t suffer in agony. Get help today!

Exercise OR Not?

See how great I feel!

Many dieters or those who want to lose weight think that exercise is necessary to lose weight.

My plan was not to exercise much, other than walking the dog twice a day. I tried to walk fast ( Charlie made me), but because of my physical condition, arthritis, severe leg neuropathy, I wasn’t able to do much more than that.

If you can exercise go ahead and do it as you will shed pounds and feel better overall. I won’t hurt to do the treadmill, run or lift weights but I’m here to tell you that I lost the 50+lbs without much exercise.

As I lost weight, the pain of arthritis, neuropathy got better and better, so if your body is hurting expect to feel a lot of pain relief!

Wondering how I lost the 50+lbs? Check out the fabulous Dr Colbert Divine Health programs. He has a lot of free videos, tips and samples too!
